CSC Secretary General and Portugal Ambassador Discuss Economic Relations

Secretary General of the Council of Saudi Chambers (CSC) Dr. Saud Al Meshari received in his office HE the Portuguese Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Dr. Manuel Carvalho where the two discussed ways to foster economic relations between the two countries.

Dr. Al Meshari noted the special relations between Saudi Arabia and Portugal, which is one of the main trade partners to the Kingdom, pointing to the significant role of the Saudi and Portuguese business communities in fostering joint investments, encouraging for more efforts to elevate the two countries’ bilateral relations.

The Portuguese Ambassador stressed his country’s interest in creating joint investment ventures with the Kingdom in light of the Saudi Vision 2030, and attracting more Saudi investments to Portugal, particularly in large value-added enterprises. He conveyed the Portuguese business community’s interest in strengthening relations with their Saudi counterpart, especially as Portugal possesses an attractive investment environment, and various opportunities in tourism, energy, constructions, foodstuffs, information technology, and technology.

The two sides discussed the participation of the Saudi business community in the Saudi-Portuguese Joint Committee, set to take place on Dec 7 in Lisbon. In addition to increasing cooperation between Saudi and Portuguese companies by activating the recently signed cooperation agreement between CSC and the Portuguese Industries Federation, intensifying meetings between the two business communities to explore respective investment opportunities, and creating strategic partnerships in various trade sectors.
