CSC Secretary General and Switzerland Ambassador Discuss Economic Cooperation

Secretary General of the Council of Saudi Chambers (CSC) Dr. Saud Al Meshari received in his office His Excellency, Switzerland’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Heinrich Schellenberg and the Executive Director of the Switzerland International Foundation Daniel Kong where they discussed fostering economic relations between the two countries.

Attendees included the Consul General, Director of the Swiss Business Hub Middle East, and the Commercial Attaché at the Swiss Embassy in Saudi Arabia.

At the start of the meeting, Dr. Al Meshari noted the robust economic relations between Saudi Arabia and Switzerland considering the latter’s status as one of the main trade partners to the Kingdom, adding that he looks forwards to the contribution of the Saudi and Swiss business communities in this regard. Al Meshari briefed his guests on the latest developments in Saudi economy post-Saudi Vision 2030, and shed light on the ongoing cooperation between CSC and the Swiss Embassy, as well as the Saudi-Swiss Business Council’s efforts’ in fostering bilateral relations.

For his part, the Ambassador conveyed Switzerland’s keenness on fostering relations with Saudi Arabia – being the biggest market in the Middle East Region; encouraging the business communities on both sides to contribute by organizing more business delegations to explore opportunities in the two countries’ respective markets. Mr. Schellenberg praised the Saudi Vision 2030, describing it as an ambitious plan to reform Saudi economy heading into the future. He added that Switzerland looks forward to be involved in the process, which shall be benefited to both nations.

Mr. Kong commended the growing Saudi-Swiss relations, noting that it is important to maintain fostering them going into the future. He shed light on the activities of the Switzerland International Foundation and noted its interest in increasing the number of Swiss companies in the Saudi market, especially considering the success experience of existing Swiss companies in the Kingdom. He added that the Swiss business community is up-to-date on the recent economic developments in Saudi Arabia.

Topics of the meeting included increasing activities of the Saudi-Swiss Business Council in the upcoming period, fostering joint ventures in advanced fields, supporting exporting SMEs, reviewing successful experiences on both sides, and exploring promising investment opportunities in the two countries.
