CSC Officials: Crown Prince Visit to UK Signify Historic Relations

Officials of the Council of Saudi Chambers (CSC) noted the historic relations between Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom, based on mutual interests and respect. They stated that the visit of HRH Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to the UK signifies the depth of these relations, and mutual keenness to foster them.

CSC Chairperson Eng. Ahmed Al Rajhi described the Crown Prince’s visit as important to the Saudi-British relations, which date back to over a century ago since the Saudi Founder, King Abdulaziz Al Saud, anchored them. Al Rajhi noted the political and economic alignment between the two Kingdoms in regards to international affairs, adding that the trip will be beneficial to bilateral trade given that it entails signing agreements and MoUs in this regard.

The CSC Chairperson described the visit as a continuation of the Kingdom’s efforts to strengthen its relations with trade partners worldwide, mainly the UK, as a key destination for international investments. He noted to the Saudi Vision 2030’s goals in this regard, which include diversifying the economic base and refusing oil-dependency. He conveyed the Saudi business community’s interest in enhancing cooperation with their British counterpart, and attracting British investments and expertise to the stable Saudi market.

For his part, CSC Vice Chairperson Dr. Sami Al Obaidy noted the historic Saudi-British relations, which continue to grow, commercially and economically. He described the Crown Prince’s visit as an indicator of mutual interest to elevate these relations. Al Obaidy added that the visit offers an opportunity to discuss expanding the scope of cooperation between the two countries and explore, especially given Saudi Arabia’s status as a key strategic partner to the UK and the biggest market in the region.

CSC Vice Chairperson Muneer bin Saad praised the robust relations between the two countries, noting that the Crown Prince’s visit to the UK is significant to fostering bilateral trade relations, and expanding the scope of cooperation between the two countries to include sectors such as renewable energy, healthcare, industries, and education, among others. He added that the two countries possess vast resources to elevate their relations. Bin Saad emphasized the importance of maintaining delegation exchanges to keep fostering these relations, adding that both the Saudi and British business communities have an opportunity to achieve great gains by utilizing their respective resources. He pointed to the role of the Saudi-British Business Council in this regard, whose efforts contributed significantly to increasing trade over the last five years to reach over SAR 17 billion. In addition to creating more than 300 joint ventures between the two countries.

CSC Secretary General Dr. Saud Al Meshari commended the continued efforts of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to support national economy, culminated by the Saudi Vision 2030, adding that the UK visit will foster Saudi-British relations even further in terms of achieving sustainability in joint investments – leading to increasing growth rates in bilateral trade and investment over the upcoming years.
